Farmers in Bihar can now buy small agricultural equipment at subsidised rates under the Krishi Yantrikaran Yojana. The scheme also offers grants for crop residue management, agricultural machinery bank and manual agricultural equipment kits. Farmers can apply on the OFMAS portal of the Bihar Government with the required documents to get the benefits of the scheme.

The scheme covers 108 types of agricultural equipment, ranging from trowels, spades, sickles to pump sets, ploughs, harvesters and more. The amount of subsidy varies from 40 percent to 80 percent depending on the category and type of equipment. The grant is higher for the SC category and crop residue management equipment.

Farmers can also get a 40 per cent grant on the establishment of an Agricultural Machinery Bank, which requires them to have equipment for every season. They can avail of this benefit individually or in groups. All farmers can apply for manual agricultural equipment kits, which include trowel, hoe, two types of sickles, weeder and other equipment.
