Haryana Police seized a shipment of liquor disguised as medicines that was meant to be delivered to Bihar on Sunday. Police said that at least six large boxes of medicines transported to dry state Bihar from IMT Manesar were seized after they found that the consignment was loaded with Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL).

During a routine scanning, the courier staff found that the medicine boxes contained plastic pouches filled with whiskey and alerted the police. The consignment was picked up by a courier firm from a private company in IMT Manesar and brought to their warehouse in Pathreri, Bilaspur.

The police team from Bilaspur police station inspected the boxes and found 1,100 pouches of whiskey. They registered a case against the private company for cheating and violating the excise law based on the complaint of the courier firm’s assistant manager Indrajeet Yadav. Yadav said they had provided all the details of the sender and receiver to the police for investigation, reported Hindustan Times.
