The Bihar government is committed to developing sports infrastructure from the district to the panchayat levels in Siwan. Projects such as sports complexes, gyms, open gyms, indoor stadiums, and the appointment of sports coaches are underway, benefiting future generations, according to District Magistrate (DM) Mukul Kumar Gupta.
Extensive infrastructure development for sports is being carried out rapidly across the district. At the panchayat level, the construction of sports grounds, including basketball, volleyball, badminton courts, and running tracks, is in progress. Stadiums are being built at the block level, with three already completed and others nearing completion.
At the district level, three multi-purpose halls will be constructed in Jiradei's Bhainsa Khal, Srinagar Colony, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. An international-level swimming pool, costing eight crores, is also planned for Bhainsakhal, with the tender process in its final stages.
The DM stated that these developments will provide district-level athletes with national and international-level facilities. The Bihar government's 'Medal Lao Naukri Pao' (Bring a Medal, Get a Job) scheme and the 'Khelo India' initiative, which provides annual incentives of Rs five lakh to successful athletes in national-level competitions, are boosting athletes' morale and supporting their training.
