Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Sinha has directed agriculture officials to ensure the timely distribution of certified and improved seeds to farmers for the sowing of Sharadiya (Kharif) crops. Emphasising the importance of timely preparation, he has instructed that seeds must be made available to farmers by June 20 without fail.
The Agriculture Department has set specific targets for seed distribution:
-30,000 quintals of hybrid paddy
-30,069 quintals of high-yielding paddy varieties
-9,500 quintals of hybrid maize
-9,740 quintals of pigeon pea
Sinha noted that timely access to quality seeds will give farmers a better opportunity to carry out profitable cultivation during the Kharif season. He further directed that the progress of seed distribution be closely monitored at the district level, with district-wise targets already assigned and the supply process actively underway.

The Deputy CM also urged farmers to take full advantage of the certified seeds distributed by the department and to adopt scientific farming practices to boost productivity. He described the initiative as a key step toward fulfilling the vision of “Developed Bihar – Prosperous Farmer.”
