Air India Flights Cancellation: Tata Group-owned Air India is facing the biggest crisis in its recent history, with several flights facing delays and cancellations due to technical snags. At least six international Air India flights on Tuesday were cancelled after suffering technical glitches and operational failures. These disruptions follow the tragic plane crash which took place on June 12, where an Air India flight -- AI-171 -- crashed into a hostel of BJ Medical College shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.

On Tuesday, the Air India flight AI-159, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, from Ahmedabad to London's Gatwick airport was cancelled due to "unavailability" of airspace. A Paris-Delhi Air India flight AI-143 was also cancelled on Tuesday after some problems were detected during pre-flight checks. The airline said it is providing hotel accommodation and also offering full refunds on cancellations or complimentary rescheduling if requested by the passengers.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated a full inspection of the entire Dreamliner fleet of Air India. The series of flight disruptions due to several operational failures has heightened the technical investigations at airports, following the tragic crash on June 12, which resulted in the deaths of more than 270 people, including 241 passengers and crew and nearly 30 people on the ground.

List of Air India flights Cancelled Today:

Ahmedabad-London (AI-159 and AI-170): The Ahmedabad-London AI-159 flight, which resumed on Monday with a new code AI159 instead of AI171, was cancelled on Tuesday due to the unavailability of an aircraft. Air India, however, denied claims that a technical snag led to the cancellation and maintained that it has made alternative arrangements for the affected passengers to reach their destination. The plane was scheduled to depart at 3 pm from the Ahmedabad airport. Consequently, flight AI-170 from London (Gatwick) to Amritsar on June 17 stands cancelled.

Delhi-Paris (AI143 and AI142): Paris-bound Air India flight 143 from Delhi was cancelled on Tuesday afternoon after pre-flight checks identified an issue. Air India, in its statement, said that the issue is "being addressed." The AI143 has been cancelled because the flight is subject to restrictions on night operations at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport. Consequently, flight AI142 from Paris to Delhi on June 17, 2025, also stands cancelled.

Bangalore-London (AI133): Air India Flight Boeing 787, which was expected to depart from Bangalore to London at 2:15 on June 17, was cancelled due to a broader safety review of the Dreamliner fleet of Air India.

San Francisco-Kolkata-Mumbai (AI180): An Air India flight AI-180 from San Francisco to Mumbai, with a scheduled stop in Kolkata, was grounded on Tuesday after a technical issue was suspected during a routine post-landing inspection. Following the safety precautions, the passengers were asked to deboard the plane, and necessary maintenance work took place.

DGCA Seeks Pilots' Training Record For Air India That Crashed In Ahmedabad:

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday sought from Air India the training records of the pilots and the dispatcher for the plane that crashed in Ahmedabad last week. The records will be used as part of its investigation into the incident. The DGCA also asked all flying schools to conduct training compliance checks, Reuters reported.

The DGCA said the requests were part of a "regulatory" review of the accident, and also sought details of action taken following the watchdog's audits of Air India in the last few months. It asked for the details to be provided by Monday. While the request for pilot training data was sent by the DGCA, the accident investigation is being led by another wing of the aviation ministry, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.
