In Bihar, one woman from every family will be given a first installment of Rs 10,000 to help start her own business or employment. For this purpose, the state has launched the 'MukhyamantriMahila Rozgar Yojana' (Chief Minister Women's Employment Scheme).

A key feature is that six months after the women start their work, their progress will be reviewed. If needed, they can receive additional financial assistance of up to Rs 2 lakh. This important proposal was approved in a special cabinet meeting on Friday.

Before this announcement, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had shared the news of this decision in a post on 'X' . He wrote that since his government came to power in November 2005, it has worked extensively on women's empowerment and has taken many important steps to make women strong and self-reliant. He added that today, through their hard work, the women of Bihar are not only contributing to the state's progress but are also strengthening their families' financial situation.

The Chief Minister provided the following details about the scheme:

Goal of the Scheme: The main aim of this new 'Chief Minister Women's Employment Scheme' is to provide financial assistance to one woman from every family in the state to start a business of her choice.

First Installment: Under the scheme, one woman from each family will receive Rs 10,000 as initial support for her chosen employment.

Application Process: The process for accepting applications from interested women will begin soon. The entire framework and rules will be prepared by the Rural Development Department, with support from the Urban Development and Housing Department as needed.

Start of Payments: The transfer of funds to the beneficiaries' bank accounts will begin in September 2025.

Additional Assistance: An evaluation will be conducted six months after the work starts, and based on the need, further assistance of up to Rs 2,00,000 can be provided.

Market Access: To ensure the sale of products made by women, special 'haat-bazaars' (local markets) will be developed across the state, from villages to cities.
