The main roads of the district are set to become State Highways. The process for this has already begun, and the classification of these roads will be completed soon. Additionally, the category of roads in several other districts across the state will also undergo changes.
Over 100 main roads across the state, including approximately half a dozen from this district, are expected to be converted into State Highways. Following their classification, they will be upgraded. The Road Construction Department has requested a list of such main roads from all Superintending and Executive Engineers. In light of this, work has commenced at the Road Division level.
An official from the Road Division Department stated that main roads will be classified as State Highways if they have a daily footfall exceeding 100,000 and are directly connected to a State or National Highway. A list of such roads has been requested. While it is likely that six roads will be included, detailed official information is not yet available. The survey work for this classification is currently underway, and a report will be sent to the headquarters soon.
