The Directorate of Early Education has announced a state-wide initiative to assess and upgrade basic infrastructure in all 71,523 primary schools across Bihar. Following an inspection drive scheduled to conclude by mid-August, a dedicated campaign will be launched post-August 15 to address infrastructural deficiencies.

An action plan has been finalised and will be executed under the supervision of the respective District Magistrates. The campaign will also prioritise ensuring adequate teaching staff in government schools, with a minimum of three teachers in each primary school and at least eight in each middle school. Teacher deployment will be aligned with standard norms, with data to be sourced from the state’s Command and Control Centre.

The Department of Education has instructed all Regional Deputy Directors of Education and District Education Officers to ensure the availability of basic amenities in government-run schools. An initial fund allocation has been made to provide essentials such as electrification, drinking water facilities, and furniture maintenance.

Each school will receive Rs 50,000 under contingency funds for these improvements. This amount will be used for installing tube lights, fans, repairing or replacing benches and desks, and improving drinking water systems. Schools will be required to submit utility certificates after expenditure.
