Bihar News: Amid a significant surge in demands for electricity connections, the Bihar government has clarified that every household is entitled to get only one electricity meter. The department received thousands of new applications after the state government's announcement of 125 units of free electricity. However, it clarified that the meters will only be allotted after proper verification. The electricity department also stated that it has received multiple requests from the same family, adding that strict action will be taken in case of violation of the rules. Earlier in July, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that free electricity up to 125 units will provide relief to the residents.
In its latest advisory, the electricity department has clarified that only one connection will be provided per house. It stated that a family must submit a registered court-issued land or house partition document if they apply for multiple meters. The department has also clarified that only one connection will be provided even if multiple siblings have been residing in the same house.
The officials stated that the meters will be granted if the applicants provide valid documents, including an Aadhaar card, a photo, and partition documents. However, multiple connections for the same house will not be allowed, adding that the misleading applications are being rejected. They further stated that hundreds of applications are pending due to the misleading application forms.
In separate news, the Railways has announced the operation of additional special trains from Darbhanga to Anand Vihar Terminal. A total of two pairs of special trains will operate on different dates, providing significant relief to passengers traveling to and from Delhi, jagran.com reported.
