Bihar Mock Drill On May 7: The Pahalgam terror attack heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. In view of the current situation, the central government has directed that a mock drill be held nationwide. In Bihar, five districts will undergo this mock drill tomorrow, May 7.
Barauni, Begusarai, Katihar, Purnia, and Patna is set to undergo a mock drill that will demonstrate how to keep residents safe in the event of a war or a major attack.
Preparations are underway for the mock drill in Patna. Under this, the electricity of the city will be switched off for 15 minutes and sirens will be sounded. People will be told ways to protect themselves during war.
Mock Drill Planned In Patna
The Bihar State Disaster Management Authority, in collaboration with the Civil Defence Directorate, plans to hold a large-scale mock drill in Patna.
District Magistrate Chandrashekhar presided over a review meeting with relevant authorities to examine preparations for the drill.
As part of the practice, sirens will ring simultaneously at many key places, including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) building on Gandhi Maidan, Patna University, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), and other significant sites across the city.
Following the sirens, fire brigade and ambulances will be observed actively moving on the roads as part of the drill. Citizens will also be trained in civil defense procedures to improve community readiness in emergency scenarios.
The Union Home Ministry has sent a circular to all the states in this regard. Along with civil defence, Home Guard, NCC and children from schools and colleges can also be included in the mock drill. In this drill, more attention will be given to preparations for protection from air attacks.
