After years of struggle, the residents of Tankuppa in Bihar’s Gaya district are finally seeing progress in their demand for a railway overbridge or underpass near Jianbigha, adjacent to Tankuppa station.
With the efforts of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, the Railway Ministry has granted departmental approval for the construction of an underpass. Manjhi shared this update on his Facebook account.
According to Gaya Dhanbad Grand Cord Railway Sangharsh Samiti President E Nandlal Manjhi, residents had been submitting memorandums to public representatives for years, but with no success. Frustrated, they even boycotted voting during elections.
During the Lok Sabha elections, Jitan Ram Manjhi had assured residents that, if elected, he would push for the construction of an underpass or overbridge. Last month, a delegation from the Sangharsh Samiti met with Manjhi and submitted a memorandum, which he later presented to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. As a result, the project has been approved for the current financial year, with an estimated cost of Rs 6.78 crore.
Expressing their gratitude to the minister, key members of the Sangharsh Samiti—including Vinod Singh, Vijay Yadav, Jhalak Singh, Rajkumar Sao, Mohd. Rizwan, Dilip Singh, Kapil Yadav, Munna Pandey, Dilip Yadav, Umesh Das, and Sudhir Sao—welcomed the long-awaited development.
