The Rail Road Over Bridge (ROB) near the Ramdayalu railway crossing is set for reconstruction, with NHAI engineers, railway officials and the designated construction agency initiating coordinated planning. On Friday, teams from both the Railways and NHAI inspected the Ramdayalu railway level crossing as part of a joint survey.

Rail Traffic Inspector Naveen Kumar, Electrical Engineer Ashok Chaudhary, an Inspector of Works (IOW), and other railway personnel represented the Railways. Three NHAI engineers along with two engineers from the construction agency were also present.

During the inspection, officials decided that a ring roundabout (golambar) for the new ROB will be developed slightly ahead of the level crossing. From this roundabout, roads will extend towards Samastipur, Patna, Darbhanga, Motihari and the city. Several houses located next to the proposed site have been asked to vacate the area. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared soon and sent to senior authorities.

An underground Road Under Bridge (RUB) will be built near the Ramdayalu level crossing for public passage. Additionally, a new bridge will be constructed parallel to the existing southern overbridge. Once the new structure is operational, the old bridge will be dismantled. A connecting road towards Patna Road will be developed from the front of the southern overbridge, and the new structure will be designed as a two-way bridge, officials said.

The project was initially assigned to the State Bridge Construction Corporation, but NHAI later took over responsibility. According to NHAI officials, the ROB design aligns with the proposed four-lane road from this point towards Darbhanga. The proposal received approval from both state and central governments, after which the construction mandate was transferred.

The Bridge Construction Corporation Limited has issued an NOC to NHAI, clearing the way for ROB construction. Previously, under the Bridge Corporation, the project had a 30-month completion target, and a Rs 1.87 billion tender had been awarded to Hardev Construction, Jharkhand. Although the Railways made a minor design modification, the project was subsequently handed over to NHAI.

Meanwhile, a six-lane road from Madhaul to Bakri, passing through Ramdayalu and Bhagwanpur Chandni Chowk, is also planned. The Road Construction Department is working on widening the stretch, which will aid NHAI’s upcoming work in the region.
