Siwan Liquor News: One person died and five others experienced severe health issues, particularly related to vision loss, after consuming liquor late Thursday night in Lakdi Naviganj, Siwan. The victims were initially treated at the Lakdi Naviganj Health Center before being referred to Sadar Hospital, where one individual, identified as Amarjeet Yadav, passed away.
Amarjeet Yadav returned home intoxicated on Thursday evening. His neighbour, Soni Kumari, recounted that he suddenly became restless and was taken to the hospital the following morning, where he died. She mentioned that her husband also drank with Amarjeet and began to feel unwell, suffering from loss of eyesight.
Another victim, Umesh Rai, reported buying liquor for Rs 50 the previous day. After consuming it, he vomited and experienced vision problems. He was admitted to Sadar Hospital and then referred to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for further treatment.
This incident follows a tragic event in October when 48 people died after consuming toxic liquor in the Bhagwanpur and Mashrakh areas near Siwan and Chhapra. Many others suffered from severe health complications, including loss of sight, leading to widespread panic across the state.

The issue of poisonous alcohol is often linked to the production of raw or fake liquor, which may contain harmful chemicals. Unlike government-approved liquor, which is distilled at specific temperatures to produce safe ethyl alcohol, illicit liquor can include dangerous substances like methyl alcohol. Methyl is particularly hazardous, as it can damage the eyes and brain and its consumption can lead to blindness or death.
