The Bihar Police Headquarters has issued a state-wide alert in response to a potential threat of violent actions by terrorist organisations. In light of recent developments, authorities have instructed heightened security measures around critical public places, including the Vidhan Sabha, Vidhan Parishad, Secretariat, Patna High Court, and VIP residences.
On Monday, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), Pankaj Darad, issued a letter to district authorities, including SSPs and Railway SPs, urging them to remain vigilant and increase security protocols. The police also emphasised enhanced surveillance on the India-Nepal border, in response to growing concerns following the terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Kashmir.
Authorities have expressed concerns that terrorist groups may retaliate against national security actions by targeting political figures, religious leaders, security personnel, sensitive institutions, and infrastructure such as railways, shopping malls, religious sites, and crowded public spaces.
In response, security at important sites such as the Mahabodhi Temple, Patna's Hanuman Temple, Barauni Refinery, Patna and Gaya Airports, and the NTPC Barh has been strengthened. Special attention will be given to entry checks at railway stations, with increased surveillance and security audits.
Additional measures include raising police patrols and monitoring hotels, lodges, and other public accommodations, with instructions for regular checks on guests. Surveillance on the Indo-Nepal border and sensitive inter-district areas will also be intensified. Authorities have been directed to monitor internet media for any rumors and refute false claims through press briefings.
