The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has issued a notification for the recruitment of 462 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) in the Bihar Police Radio (Wireless) cadre, offering a major opportunity for youth aspiring to join the police force.

The online application process will begin on February 4 and remain open till March 4. Candidates from all categories, including male, female and transgender, are eligible to apply. As per the notification, applicants must hold a BSc degree with Physics from a recognised university. General category candidates must have secured at least 50 per cent marks, while SC/ST candidates require a minimum of 45 per cent. Educational qualifications will be verified at all stages of the recruitment process.

Physical standards have been prescribed as an essential eligibility criterion. The minimum height for male candidates of unreserved and backward classes is 165 cm, while it is 160 cm for males from the extremely backward class, SC and ST categories. The minimum height for female candidates of all categories is 155 cm.

The selection process will be conducted in three stages. The first stage will be a preliminary examination of 100 marks, comprising 40 questions from General Knowledge and Current Affairs and 60 questions from Physics. The exam will be of two hours’ duration and conducted in an objective format. Candidates scoring less than 30 per cent will be disqualified from appearing in the main examination.

Candidates qualifying the preliminary exam will appear for the main examination, which will have two papers. The first paper will test General Language Knowledge, with 50 marks each for General Hindi and General English. This intermediate-level exam will be of one-and-a-half hours’ duration, and candidates must score a minimum of 30 marks, though these marks will not be included in the merit list.

The second paper of the main examination will be graduate-level Physics, consisting of 100 questions for 100 marks, with a duration of three hours. Candidates must secure at least 33 per cent marks in this paper. In both preliminary and main examinations, 0.2 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Based on the performance in the written examinations, candidates up to five times the number of vacancies will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will be qualifying in nature and carry no marks. However, passing all physical standards will be mandatory.

BPSSC has advised candidates to apply within the stipulated timeline and carefully read the official notification to avoid errors. The recruitment is being seen as a significant opportunity for those seeking a technical career in the Bihar Police.
