Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Sanjay Saraogi on Thursday emphasised that the posting of Zonal Officers will now be determined strictly on the basis of their performance. Addressing a two-day review meeting of Land Reforms Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Zonal Officers, the minister also directed that Zonal Officers should adopt the same performance-based approach when assigning duties to their subordinates.

Minister Saraogi underlined the importance of serious and timely completion of public-related tasks. Expressing dissatisfaction over the high rate of mutation rejections without proper hearings, he named specific areas including Chanpatia (West Champaran), Palasi (Araria), Babubarhi (Madhubani), Madhuban, Hajipur, and Kudhni (East Champaran) as underperforming.

The minister made it clear that rejection of mutation applications without granting the applicant a hearing would not be tolerated. He also expressed concern over the slow pace of case resolution in zones such as Mushahari (Muzaffarpur), Raniganj (Araria), Purnia East Sadar, Forbesganj (Araria), and Dumra (Sitamarhi).

Additionally, during the review of the digitisation of jamabandis in the Parimarjan Plus portal, progress in several zones—including Kursela (Katihar), Rosda (Samastipur), Bhagwanpur (Vaishali), Jogapatti and Piprasi (West Champaran), and Basopatti (Madhubani)—was found to be unsatisfactory.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar Singh, Department Secretary Jai Singh, Director of Consolidation Rakesh Kumar Singh, Director of Land Acquisition Kamlesh Kumar Singh, and Special Secretary Arun Kumar Singh. The officials were clearly warned that any negligence or delay in work execution would invite strict departmental action.
