The construction of over half a dozen Greenfield bypasses on National Highways in Bihar is currently in the pipeline. The state’s Road Construction Department had submitted proposals for seven such bypasses to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, out of which three have received formal approval.
Among the approved proposals is the Arwal Greenfield Bypass, which will span 12.8 km at a cost of Rs 573.63 crore. Similarly, the Daudnagar Bypass in Aurangabad district, measuring 10.5 km, has been sanctioned with an estimated budget of Rs 932.46 crore.
The Aurangabad Bypass, another key project, will be 9.2 km long and is set to cost Rs 865.16 crore. These projects aim to decongest traffic and enhance road connectivity in the respective regions.

The Ministry is currently reviewing proposals for four additional Greenfield bypasses:
-Amba Bypass (Aurangabad): A 10.3 km long project with an estimated cost of Rs 567.78 crore.
-Obra Bypass: Proposed to be 7.96 km in length, with a budget of Rs 786.39 crore.
-Ramgarh Bypass: Planned as a four-lane bypass spanning 5 km, with a proposed outlay of Rs 250 crore, including consultancy fees.
-Pranpur Bypass: A 4 km long Greenfield project still in the early planning phase, for which a DPR (Detailed Project Report) consultant is yet to be appointed.
These proposed projects are at various stages of assessment and approval. Once cleared, they are expected to significantly ease traffic flow and contribute to the region's infrastructural development.
