The poll body stated that 20 lakh dead and 28 lakh permanently migrated electors have been detected in the process. It further stated that 7 lakh voters have been found enrolled at more than one place, adding that forms of 7.17 crore voters have been digitised. Earlier on Tuesday, the EC had stated that 18 lakh dead and 26 lakh permanently shifted voters have been found during the voter list revision.

"Facts revealed till 23rd July - 98.01 per cent electors have been covered. 20 lakh deceased electors reported. 28 lakh permanently migrated electors reported," Election Commission informed. "7 lakh electors found enrolled at more than one place. 1 lakh electors untraceable. 15 lakh Electors’ Forms not returned. 7.17 crore Electors’ Forms (90.89%) received and digitised," the poll body added.

The Election Commission had stated that the draft electoral roll would be published on August 1 after completion of the first phase of SIR. However, the poll body further stated that any voter or political party will have the option to raise an objection by September 1 in case of any error.

The poll body has stated that the aim of the electoral roll revision is to ensure that the final voters list includes only legitimate voters. The enumeration process involves over 1 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 4 lakh volunteers, and 1.5 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from 12 major political parties in Bihar.

However, several opposition leaders, including RJD's Tejashwi Yadav and Jan Suraj's Prashant Kishor, have criticised the revision process by terming it as an attempt to remove the voters of the marginalized section of the society. Opposition MLAs on Tuesday and Wednesday turned up in the Bihar assembly, dressed in black as a mark of protest against the SIR, and created a ruckus over the issue.
