Bengaluru News: An unattended bag containing six gelatin sticks and several detonators was discovered at the Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand in central Bengaluru on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
The bag was found near the toilet area of the busy transport hub, which sees thousands of daily commuters. A call was made to the police alerting them to the suspicious bag. On reaching the spot, officers immediately called in the bomb disposal squad, who confirmed the presence of explosives inside the carry bag.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) S Girish confirmed that the materials included six gelatin sticks and detonators. He added that no FIR had been filed yet and more details would be shared following further investigation.
Security at the bus stand has been tightened and the area has been cordoned off. The police are trying to trace who left the bag and are checking CCTV footage.
This incident follows a similar case from last year. On 17 March 2024, gelatin sticks and detonators were also recovered from a tractor parked outside a school in Bellandur, just days after the Rameshwaram Café explosion in Bengaluru.
