The Bihar government is preparing to introduce a specialised force to enhance security across industrial areas in the state. Industries Minister Dr Dilip Jaiswal announced on Sunday that the Bihar Industrial Security Force (BISF) will soon be constituted on the model of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). A detailed proposal will shortly be presented for cabinet approval.
Under the plan, the BISF will operate as an exclusive unit focused on safeguarding industrial establishments. Experienced personnel from the Bihar Police will be deployed in the force, which will be headed by an IPS officer. DSP-rank officers and inspectors will also be part of the command structure. The headquarters of the force is proposed to be set up within an industrial zone.

The BISF’s services will be available to new investors as well as existing industrial units. The force will be responsible for securing not only factory premises but entire industrial clusters.
With several new investors planning to establish industries in Bihar and multiple clusters already being developed, the government believes a dedicated security mechanism will boost confidence and support smooth operations.

Entrepreneurs have long demanded a specialised security system for industrial areas, as units currently depend on private security arrangements. The creation of the BISF is expected to fulfil this long-pending requirement and strengthen the state’s industrial ecosystem.
