The Bihar Transport Department is preparing to launch regular bus services from a dozen major cities in the state to Delhi, including Patna, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Buxar, Gaya, Kishanganj, Nawada, East Champaran, Araria, Biharsharif, and Madhubani. A reciprocal transport agreement between Bihar and Delhi is being considered to facilitate these services.

According to the draft proposal published on the department’s official website on Wednesday, buses will operate to New Delhi and Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate, passing through several cities in Bihar, such as Arrah, Buxar, Chhapra, Siwan, Gopalganj, Danapur, Pali, Daudnagar, Aurangabad, Bodh Gaya, Hisua, Wazirganj, Dobhi, Sherghati, Sasaram, and Nalanda, and Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Ayodhya, Agra, Gorakhpur, Basti, Prayagraj, Deoria, Chandauli, Aligarh, and Kanpur.

The Transport Department has invited written suggestions and objections from vehicle owners regarding the proposed agreement. The deadline for submission is December 12; submissions after this date will not be considered.

Officials noted that travelling from Bihar to Delhi can be challenging due to limited train availability. The introduction of regular bus services is expected to provide greater convenience and improve connectivity between Bihar and Delhi. While buses currently operate on some routes, their numbers are limited.
