Bihar Weather: IMD Warns Of Dense Fog, Cold Day Conditions In 17 Northern Districts; Patna Gets Brief Relief | Check Forecast

Bihar Weather Update: IMD issued a warning for dense fog and cold day conditions for 17 districts in the northern parts of the state, while residents in Patna and surrounding areas continued to get relief from the cold for the third consecutive day on Tuesday as morning fog gradually cleared, allowing bright sunshine through the day.

The weather department said similar conditions are likely to prevail for the next four days in Patna and southern Bihar, with dense morning fog followed by sunshine, providing temporary relief from the biting cold. Meanwhile, the warning for dense fog and cold day conditions remains in effect for the northern districts, excluding the southern regions of the state.

Cold day conditions are expected in East Champaran, West Champaran, Siwan, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria, Purnea and Katihar.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, a Western Disturbance is likely to become active over the Western Himalayan region from January 15, with its impact expected to last till January 20-21. This system may intensify fog conditions and cause a further drop in temperatures across the state.

Rise In Temperature Observed

On Monday, extremely dense fog was reported in Purnea and Supaul, while fog covered most other districts. The lowest visibility of just 10 metres was recorded in Supaul. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was 4.6 Degree Celsius in Samastipur (Pusa).

Patna recorded a minimum temperature of 10.7 Degree Celsius . A rise in minimum temperature was seen in most districts except Aurangabad, Jiradei (Siwan), Madhepura and Kishanganj.

The maximum temperature in Patna stood at 22.0 Degree Celsius on Monday, while Kishanganj recorded the highest temperature in the state at 27.0 Degree Celsius . Maximum temperatures increased across most districts except Buxar, Sasaram, Arwal, Dehri, Aurangabad and Gaya.

Temperatures In Major Cities

Temperatures recorded across major cities of Bihar showed moderate daytime warmth with chilly nights. Gaya registered a maximum temperature of 23.0 degree celsius and a minimum of 8.2 degree celsius, while Bhagalpur recorded a high of 23.2 degree celsius and a low of 8.0 degree celsius. Patna witnessed a maximum of 22.0 degree celsius with the night temperature settling at 10.7 degree celsius. Muzaffarpur remained relatively cooler during the day at 20.6 degree celsius and recorded a minimum temperature of 10.0 degree celsius.
