Bihar Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday stated that several Bihar districts are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till May 23. The weather department added that the rainfall will reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing major relief to the residents from the scorching heat. The IMD stated that 17 districts of the state are likely to witness strong winds and thunderstorms along with rain for the next few days. The weather department has advised the residents of these districts to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid inconveniences.
Rain Expected In Multiple Bihar Districts
While providing details, the weather department stated that heavy rainfall is expected in several districts, including Araria, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Supaul, Purnia, Saharsa, Katihar, Banka, Bhagalpur, Jamui, Lakhisarai, Munger, and Khagaria. Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall is likely in districts such as Madhubani, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, and West Champaran.
The IMD stated that the weather will remain dry in the remaining districts, including the capital Patna, but the temperature is not likely to rise due to the eastern winds. It further stated that the maximum temperature in Patna and nearby regions is likely to be calculated at 36 degrees Celsius.
Light Rain Likely In Several Districts
The weather department stated that thunderstorms and lightning are expected to continue in many regions of the state for the next few days. It further advised the farmers and common citizens to stay away from open spaces, tall trees, or electric poles during lightning. The government has also alerted the district disaster management teams of these districts to stay alert and generate awareness among the residents.
The IMD informed that several districts, including Madhepura, Kishanganj, Supaul, Purnia, and Katihar, recorded heavy rains on Sunday. It added that the rains in Samastipur brought relief from the heat, adding that the temperature in these districts was reduced by three to four degrees Celsius.
