Several districts of Bihar are likely to witness respite from scorching heat as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)has issued a rainfall alert today. The weather department has issued an orange alert of moderate to heavy rainfall over the northeastern parts of Bihar, which comprises Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj among others.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert of light rainfall is likely over in districts of northwestern and northcentral Bihar. These districts include West and East Champaran, Siwan, Sitamarhi, and Darbhanga, among others.
For the rst of the places, the met department has predicted very light rainfall at isolated places.
District-wise forecast
The orange alert for heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning has been forecast for Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, and Madhepura. Meanwhile, strong surface winds at a speed of 50-60 km/h are also likely to blow over the region.
The IMD has also said that thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain are likely over Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharasa, Purnea, Katihar, Buxar, Kaimur, Rohtas, and Aurangabad. Strong surface winds will also blow over these districts. In Patna, the weather is likely to remain cloudy and there is no rainfall prediction.
Weather conditions recorded
A huge drop was recorded in the maximum temperature of several cities, including the state capital Patna on Sunday. During the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature of Patna fell by seven degrees to 36.5 degrees Celsius, while Dehri remained the hottest place in the state with 41.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Center Patna, a low air trough has formed from the central parts of Uttar Pradesh to the central part of Bihar and up to northern Bangladesh. A cyclonic circulation area of air remains in central Assam and the surrounding areas.
Due to all these weather effects, an orange alert has been issued for rain and hailstorms with thunderstorms for the next three days in the state.
