Buxar Train News: Buxar railway station could soon see a new rapid train service if the East Central Railway approves a proposal to extend the Jaynagar-Patna Namo Bharat Express to Buxar. At present, only the Buxar-Tatanagar Express operates from this station. The extension aims to connect passengers from Buxar and nearby Bhojpur district with important cities such as Patna, Mokama, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani and Jaynagar.
Jaynagar-Patna Namo Bharat Express: Facilities
The Jaynagar-Patna Namo Bharat Express is a premium train known for its metro-like facilities. All coaches are fully air-conditioned and travel can be done on unreserved tickets, although passengers must select 'Vande Metro' while booking, as fares are slightly higher than regular trains. The train runs at speeds up to 120 kmph and features automatic door locks, comfortable seating, mobile charging points and ample standing space. Its modern exterior resembles that of a metro train.

Jaynagar-Patna Train Timings
Currently, the train departs from Jaynagar at 5:28 AM and reaches Patna Junction by 10:30 AM, passing through Sakri, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Barauni and Mokama. The return trip leaves Patna at 6:05 PM and arrives in Jaynagar at 11:45 PM, with a five-hour halt at Patna for maintenance. To better use this time and improve passenger convenience, the Danapur division has proposed extending the service to Buxar, which is under the jurisdiction of the Hajipur railway division.
Buxar And Ara Residents To Be Benefitted
This extension would benefit around 600 passengers from Buxar and Ara, providing them with a direct, fast connection to Patna and other key destinations. The train currently has 16 coaches, accommodating over 2,000 passengers, with the possibility of adding two more if demand increases. The new service would also help reduce unauthorised travel on long-distance trains.
Buxar railway station sees about 120 trains stopping daily, including express and special services such as Jan Shatabdi, Vande Bharat and Garib Rath trains. However, only four trains begin or end at Buxar, mainly local MEMU services. Residents of Ara and Buxar have long requested the extension of the Namo Bharat Express and the scheme could begin this month pending official approval.
