To manage the heavy passenger rush anticipated during Chhath Mahaparv 2025, the Patna district administration has activated special security and logistical preparations at the city's main railway stations.

Hundreds of thousands of passengers traditionally travel to and from Patna for the festival, prompting the administration to make extensive preparations in advance.

Security And Crowd Management

Key Locations: A large number of magistrates and police officers have been deputed at Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Railway Station and Danapur Railway Station.

Deployment: Starting Wednesday, a total of 30 magistrates and police officers will be deployed in three shifts.

Responsibilities: Their duties include monitoring passenger safety, crowd management, and the maintenance of law and order.

Senior Oversight: The District Magistrate has directed Sub-Divisional Officers and Sub-Divisional Police Officers to remain "constantly mobile" to monitor and maintain law and order.

Medical And Municipal Readiness

Medical Teams: The Civil Surgeon, Patna, has been instructed to keep medical teams, ambulances, and life-saving medicines active around the clock at all railway stations to handle any emergency.

Encroachment Removal: Municipal Executive Officers have been ordered to keep the areas surrounding the railway stations completely free from encroachment, ensuring there is no obstruction to passenger movement.

Directives From The District Magistrate

District Magistrate Dr Thyagarajan SM issued strict instructions to officials, emphasising that passenger safety, crowd control, and maintaining peace are the highest priorities. He stressed that all officials must remain alert, vigilant, and ready for the excessive number of passengers.

The DM has specifically instructed all deputed magistrates and police officers to maintain constant communication and coordination with the railway administration to ensure the smooth entry and exit of passengers.

Inter-Agency Coordination And Goals

The District Magistrate reported that the Patna district administration is providing all possible administrative assistance to the railway management. Officials from both the railways and the district administration are in constant contact, allowing for immediate action on security, arrangements, and passenger facilities as required.

Dr Thyagarajan stated that the district administration is fully prepared to ensure no passenger faces any inconvenience. He expressed confidence that the festival will be conducted peacefully and safely through better coordination among all departments.

The joint deployment of control rooms, medical teams, security personnel, traffic police, and monitoring magistrates at Patna's four main railway stations is intended to ensure that passengers' travel and worship arrangements for this year's Chhath festival are completely safe and smooth.
