The four-day-long Chhath Mahaparv began today, November 5. The first day of Chhath Puja marks 'Nahay Khay', where devotees performing Puja make food and eat it after taking a holy bath. The second day will mark 'Khadna'. On the second day, devotees make rice-pudding (keer) as prasad.
On the third day take a holy bath in a river or another water body, observe a fast, and offer prayers to the Sun (considered as God) during the sunset. The fast ends on the fourth day of the Chhath Puja with taking bath in the water body and offering prayers to the Sun during sunrise.
The Chhath Puja is considered as the most important festival in the state of Bihar.
