Patna is witnessing a steady decline in Covid-19 cases. As of Sunday evening, only 26 individuals in the district are currently undergoing treatment for the virus. The day saw the detection of just three new cases — two pregnant women at AIIMS Patna and one at NMCH, all of whom had come for cesarean delivery.

This decline follows a warning issued by Civil Surgeon Dr Avinash Kumar Singh, who had raised concerns over a sudden spike in positive cases reported by private laboratories. He had ordered a probe into the sample collection, testing methods, and reporting practices of these labs. A dedicated investigation team was also formed to look into the matter.

According to the Civil Surgeon’s office, among the latest positive cases are a 49-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman from Phulwarisharif, whose tests at AIIMS Patna confirmed the infection. Additionally, a 23-year-old woman admitted to NMCH for delivery also tested positive.

The woman from Phulwarisharif had reported only mild fever symptoms. So far, Patna has recorded 86 confirmed cases, including 23 from NMCH, 11 from AIIMS Patna, and 52 reported by private laboratories. IGIMS has also reported seven cases to date.
