Following the establishment of special canteens in major hospitals and government secretariats, the Bihar government is set to launch similar facilities at all block headquarters for workers and the general public. Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar issued these directives during a review meeting on Wednesday, focusing on the progress of self-help groups (SHGs) under the Jeevika initiative.

During the meeting, the minister emphasised key areas including SHG membership numbers, village and cluster formations, bank credit linkage, and the implementation of agricultural and non-agricultural schemes. He also called for accelerating skill development initiatives for rural youth and enhancing SHG activities in urban areas.

Special focus was given to uplifting unskilled workers in traditional occupations such as roasted gram vendors and utensil makers, through targeted support and micro SHGs.
