Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while inaugurating the seventh edition of the Khelo India Youth Games on Sunday, emphasised the rapid development of sports infrastructure in Bihar, aided by both state and central government support. He announced that playgrounds are being built in schools and other areas across the state, and meritorious athletes are being rewarded with government jobs—367 athletes have already been appointed so far.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting Bihar the opportunity to host the Khelo India Youth Games, Kumar called it a "matter of pride" for the state. He said the central government has been extending full support in Bihar's development under Modi’s leadership. Citing the Union Budget presented in July 2024 after the NDA's third consecutive term, the CM mentioned special financial allocations for key sectors like roads, industry, health, tourism, and flood control.

Kumar also noted recent budget announcements including the establishment of a Makhana Board, a Greenfield Airport, financial support for the Western Kosi Canal, a National Food Processing Institute, and expansion plans for IIT Bihar.
This year’s Khelo India Youth Games are being held across five districts in Bihar. The CM recently reviewed preparations in Patna, Gaya, and Rajgir, where a new Sports Academy and Sports University have also been established. He also highlighted the formation of a dedicated Sports Department in 2024 to further boost athletic development in the state.
Earlier in the ceremony, the CM received a warm welcome from players and was presented a memento by Sports Minister Surendra Mehta.
