Over 8,500 athletes and 1,500 technical staff from across the country will participate in 28 different sports. The torch relay will pass through 38 districts of Bihar from April 15th to May 2. The mascot, Gajsinh (Elephant-Lion), draws inspiration from Bihar's rich archaeological heritage, specifically the Gajsinh sculptures found on temples and pillars during the Pala period.

The design incorporates elements representing the Mahabodhi Temple, Nalanda University, the Peepal tree, the sparrow, the Gangetic dolphin, Madhubani paintings, Chhath Puja, the Valmiki Tiger Reserve, the Ashoka Chakra, and the lion, all symbolising the state's diverse culture and history.
