Maithili Thakur Election Result: With a remarkable maiden win from the Alinagar assembly constituency of Bihar, the 25-year-old folk singer is set to become the youngest-ever member of the upcoming 18th Bihar assembly. Maithili Thakur's entry into Bihar politics came as a surprise to those tracking Bihar politics, as her entry itself was with an MLA ticket from the BJP.

Maithili Thakur's Political Career

Thakur came to the limelight after she stirred controversy with her remark over the name of the Bihar assembly constituency. Maithili said that she will change the constituency if she secures a win from Alinagar. hich she reiterated during the early poll result trends, saying, 'It (Alinagar) will be replaced with Sitanagar for sure'.

Defeating incumbent RJD MLA Binod Mishra, Maithili Thakur registered a remarkable victory by a margin of over 11000 votes, securing a total of 84915 votes.

Maithili Thakur; Education, Music Career

Maithili Thakur belongs to a family full of music in Benipatti, located in the Madhubani district of Bihar. Her father, Ramesh Thakur, works as a musician and also teaches music, and he gave training to Maithili along with her two younger brothers, Rishav and Ayachi, in Hindustani classical music, harmonium, and tabla.

In order to support her growth and opportunities, the entire family shifted to New Delhi. In the capital, Maithili finished her school education and later completed a bachelor’s degree from Delhi University. She made her first television appearance in Little Champs in 2011 and then in Indian Idol Junior in 2015. Her major breakthrough arrived in the year 2017 when she became the runner-up of Rising Star in its first season.

As a result, the Alinagar assembly constituency is out; Maithili Thakur has secured a resounding victory with over 11000 votes, securing a total of 84915 votes. RJD's Binod Mishra, who represented Alinagar in the 17th Bihar assembly, finished at distant second.
