Mokama Murder: An FIR filed in connection with the death of 75-year-old Dularchand Yadav in Tartar village under Bihar’s Mokama Assembly constituency has revealed that JD(U) candidate Anant Singh opened fire on the victim. The violence, which unfolded after a confrontation broke out between JD(U) and Jan Suraaj supporters on October 30, led to the death of Yadav. After being shot at by Singh, Yadav was beaten by the mob and fatally run over by a Thar SUV.

Singh, who is contesting from Mokama on a JDU ticket, was apprehended by the state police along with two of his aides, Manikant Thakur and Ranjit Ram, in a late-night search operation on Saturday. Subsequently, he shared a video on his Facebook ID where he said, "Satyamev Jayate! I have complete faith in the people of Mokama!! That's why now the people of Mokama will fight this election!" 

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K Sharma stated that the arrests were made after a thorough examination of CCTV footage, witness testimonies, and the post-mortem report. “Based on the evidence collected so far, including video footage and witness accounts, it has been found that Anant Singh was present at the spot when the violence occurred. He has been identified as the prime accused and arrested accordingly,” the SSP said.

Mokama Killing: What FIR Reveals About Anant Singh’s Role

An FIR was filed by Yadav’s grandson, Neeraj Kumar, at the Ghoswari police station on October 30, detailing the entire incident. According to that report, the incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Thursday when the convoys of JD(U) candidate Anant Singh and Jan Suraaj Party candidate Priyadarshi Piyush came face-to-face near Tartar village in Mokama constituency. This face-to-face confrontation quickly escalated into a violent altercation, leaving several injured and resulting in the death of 75-year-old Dularchand Yadav.

According to the complaint, Anant Singh, accompanied by aides, approached their vehicle and began verbally abusing Yadav. When Yadav objected, he was allegedly pulled out of the car by two men, identified as Rajveer Singh and Karmveer Singh from Nadwa village.

The report further alleges that Anant Singh fired a pistol at Yadav with the intent to kill, hitting him in the left ankle. As Yadav fell, two others, Chhotan Singh and Sanjay Singh from Barh, reportedly attacked him with iron rods. They struck his legs, back and head. After this, Yadav was run over by a Thar SUV two to three times before the group fled the scene.

The FIR was registered under Sections 103 (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Section 27 of the Arms Act. Yadav’s post-mortem, conducted on October 31, revealed multiple injuries sustained in the violent incident.
