Muzaffarpur: Family Refuses Final Rites, Alleges Patient Died Due To Lack Of Care At Sanjeevani Hospital

A chaotic situation unfolded on Saturday morning at Sanjeevani Hospital on Juran Chhapra Road No. 3, following the death of a patient. Angry relatives caused a significant uproar, alleging severe medical negligence by the hospital staff and doctors. The family has refused to perform the final rites until strict action is taken against those responsible.

The Incident And Timeline

The deceased has been identified as Bhola Kumar, a resident of JaitpurRepura, Rampur Vishwanath.

Admission: according to the deceased's uncle, Nanki Paswan, Bhola had developed a fever accompanied by vomiting and diarrhoea on Friday due to exposure to the cold. Following initial treatment and advice from a fellow villager, the family brought him to Sanjeevani Hospital on Friday evening.

Alleged Negligence: A doctor examined Bhola, administered medication, and gave him two or three injections. However, the family alleges that after this initial intervention, the patient was left on the veranda outside the hospital.

Lack of Care: Nanki Paswan stated that throughout the night, no doctor was present, and no staff member checked on the patient or provided further treatment. Despite the deteriorating condition, the patient was not referred to another facility.

Discovery Of Death And Staff Reaction

The situation escalated early Saturday morning.

The Discovery: Nanki Paswan noticed that Bhola was not breathing and immediately alerted a hospital employee.

Staff Conduct: The employee rushed over, examined Bhola with a stethoscope, and declared him dead. Upon being questioned by the family, the employee reportedly fled the scene.

Silence: Following the incident, no hospital staff were available to provide information or explanations to the grieving family.

Family’s Statement And Demands

The family is distraught, noting that Bhola was the sole breadwinner.

Medical History: The uncle clarified that Bhola had no prior health issues and had fallen ill solely due to cold exposure. He lamented that although they had paid for the treatment, the lack of medical attention cost Bhola his life.

Economic Impact: "My family was dependent on Bhola. Who will now look after the family and provide for their livelihood?" asked Nanki Paswan.

Demands: The family remains adamant in their demand for the District Administration to take strict action against the hospital for negligence. They have stated that the cremation and final rites will not be performed until authorities take action.
