A two-kilometre-long, two-lane bridge will be constructed over the Gandak River at Fatehabad in Paru block, with an estimated cost of around Rs 500 crore. Following approval in a recent state cabinet meeting, the Bridge Construction Department has initiated the preliminary procedures for the project.

Officials said that an approach road will also be built, for which land acquisition will be required. The department has begun a detailed survey to assess the land needed and the condition of the proposed construction site. Details of landholders (raiyats) are being compiled, after which a formal requisition will be prepared and submitted to the District Land Acquisition Office.

Once completed, the bridge will provide direct connectivity between Paru and Taraiya in Saran district. This is expected to significantly reduce travel distance and time, as residents of Paru currently have to travel nearly 20 kilometres extra to reach Saran. The project is also expected to give a boost to the economic development of the region.

Senior Project Engineer Alok Kumar of the Bridge Construction Department said the project is currently in its initial stage, and land acquisition assessment is underway. He added that the acquisition process will begin soon, and the requisition will be submitted to the District Land Acquisition Office in the coming days.

Officials indicated that a substantial portion of residential and agricultural land may be acquired for the construction of the approach road. The bridge is also expected to improve connectivity to Uttar Pradesh via Chapra and Siwan from Gopalganj, further enhancing regional transportation links.
