The tender for constructing the approach road to the high-level bridge on Muzaffarpur's Dighra-Butler Road has been finalised, paving the way for smoother connectivity in the region. The project, estimated to cost around Rs 97 lakh, has completed the tendering process under the Road Construction Department, and further action has begun.

According to officials, two contractors had submitted bids, out of which contractor Ranjana Rakesh secured the project for quoting the lowest amount. The work is expected to be completed within three months, and land will be acquired on both sides for the approach road.

Once operational, the high-level bridge is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion on the Dighra-Butler stretch. The route is a crucial link for commuters travelling to the city from Samastipur, and is also frequently used by heavy vehicles accessing the Bela Industrial Area.

The existing bridge on the route has become narrow and dilapidated, allowing only one-way movement at a time. Although the new two-lane high-level bridge was completed nearly two years ago, its lack of an approach road kept it non-functional. Additionally, frequent closures at the Narayanpur level crossing often result in traffic jams lasting up to two hours.

With the approach road now set for construction, vehicles coming from Samastipur will no longer need to detour via Kacchi Pakki, and traffic pressure on the Ramdayalu-Aghoria Bazaar route is expected to reduce considerably.
