Patliputra University’s syndicate, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Upendra Prasad Singh, on Saturday approved several major proposals concerning academic reforms, faculty appointments, and course expansion. Most recommendations from the 22nd and 23rd Finance Committee meetings, the 20th ANTPC, and the 17th Academic Council were cleared.
The syndicate approved an increase in the PhD coursework fee, along with updates to the syllabus for multiple subjects, including Maithili, Home Science, Persian, Psychology, Chemistry, and Prakrit.

Approval was granted to introduce vocational courses in eight colleges, including LLM in two institutions. The university will also open new departments in Sanskrit, Pali, and Maithili, and permit postgraduate programmes in subjects already offered at the undergraduate level.
Courses under the AEDP, the Board of Studies, a fifth-semester internship, regular-mode PMIR, and an exit option after two and four semesters also received clearance.
The syndicate approved the appointments of newly selected principals and assistant professors in six subjects, as recommended by the University Service Commission. It also accepted the promotion committee’s recommendations for granting higher responsibilities to non-teaching staff.

All decisions will now be sent to the Raj Bhavan and the state government for approval before implementation, followed by ratification in the Senate. Government representatives Prof Rajendra Prasad Gupta, Arun Kumar, Pratibha Singh, and Prof. Narendra Kumar Singh attended the meeting. Registrar Prof Abu Bakar Rizvi welcomed members, and Prof Rajeev Ranjan, DSW, delivered the vote of thanks.
