Acting on the instructions of District Magistrate Dr Thyagarajan SM, a major anti-encroachment drive was carried out across all circles of Patna on Wednesday. Fines were imposed on violators, and officials were directed to seize goods and lodge FIRs against repeat offenders. The DM has made it clear that preventing encroachment is the personal responsibility of the respective SHOs, whose presence during such drives is mandatory.
In the Nutan Rajdhani circle, encroachments were cleared from the GPO roundabout, Station roundabout, and Chidiyatand bridge. Seven handcarts were seized, and a fine of Rs 18,500 was collected.

In the Pataliputra circle, permanent and temporary encroachments were removed from under the Rajiv Nagar bridge to Digha Sabzi Mandi. One platform was seized from five to six permanent encroachments, and penalties worth Rs 10,500 were collected.
In the Azimabad circle, action was taken from Gaighat Danka Imli to Mahavir Ghat, resulting in the seizure of six handcarts and the removal of six illegal banners and hoardings. Authorities collected Rs 13,000 in fines.
In the Phulwarisharif Municipal Council area, encroachments on both sides of the road from Thana Golambar to Nauhsa Mod were cleared. Drain encroachments, 20 banners and posters, handcarts, bamboo, and debris were removed. The drive collected Rs 9,500 in penalties.

Across the four circles, a total of Rs 52,300 was collected.
The District Magistrate said that maintaining public spaces and main roads free from encroachment remains a top administrative priority. He directed special monitoring along key routes, including Nehru Path, JP Ganga Path, Airport Road, Ashok Rajpath, and Digha-Ashiana Road, warning that any negligence in removing encroachments would not be tolerated.
