Three young men were injured in a shooting incident on Wednesday night in Gyanchak village, which falls under the Didarganj police station area. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH).
Relatives at the hospital identified the victims as:
- 20-year-old Ankit Kumar, son of Jagannath Singh, shot near the chest.
- 21-year-old Vikas Kumar, son of Kishori Singh, shot in the leg.
- Sahil Kumar son of Sanjay Kumar, also shot in the leg.
Cause Linked To Earlier Dispute
According to relatives, the shooting is linked to a personal dispute that began two to three days earlier.
Initial Conflict: A fight had occurred over opposition to local gambling and drug addicts in the village.
Escalation: Following this, Deepak, the brother of one of the injured, was beaten by miscreants while he was returning from dropping off his mother. Deepak received medical treatment, and the police were informed of that incident.
The Shooting Incident
The conflict culminated in the shooting on Wednesday night. The three victims—Ankit, Vikas and Sahil were sitting and talking near their homes. And suddenly a group of more than a dozen intoxicated individuals reportedly arrived, initiated a fight, and then began firing indiscrimin-ately.
The three youths were shot during the spate of gunfire.

Police Investigation
Didarganj police were informed and arrived at the location following the shooting. An investigation into the incident is underway. Police have recovered a spent cartridge from the scene.
