The Mines and Geology Department is set to auction approximately 26.96 lakh cubic feet of sand seized in the Patna district, with the process scheduled to begin on July 10. The sand, stored at multiple locations, will be auctioned via open mail bidding at the auditorium of the Patna Collectorate.
According to the department’s official order, if the auction cannot be completed on July 10, it will continue on July 11 and 12. A general auction notice has also been issued, outlining the terms and conditions for bidders.
Successful bidders will be issued a pre-paid e-challan in the name of the driver transporting the sand. The challan will include details of the quantity and cost of the sand. To ensure transparency and compliance, the auctioneer must install a signboard at the sale site, displaying information such as the seller’s name and address, auction duration, and sale price.
Further, the auctioned sand must be fenced and covered with tarpaulin, and the auctioneer is required to install a weighing machine and CCTV surveillance system at the storage site. Compliance with environmental guidelines and departmental rules is mandatory for all participants.
This auction drive is part of the department’s ongoing effort to regulate sand trade and curb illegal mining activities in the state.
