To streamline the traffic system in the urban area, the Patna traffic police have decided to implement a new parking arrangement from the Income Tax roundabout to Dakbangla Chauraha and from Buddha Marg to below the GPO roundabout. This order will be effective from today, Sunday.

Under the initiative, the parking of three-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles has been completely prohibited on Nehru Path, from the Income Tax roundabout to Dakbangla Chauraha. Similarly, no three or four-wheeled vehicles will be allowed to park from Buddha Marg to the GPO roundabout.

For drivers of private four-wheeled vehicles heading towards Buddha Marg or the Iskcon temple, a facility has been made available to park their vehicles in the smart multi-level car park built opposite the Planetarium. This car park has a capacity for 96 vehicles. Meanwhile, three-wheeled vehicles can be parked in the multi-modal car park.

Similarly, arrangements have been made for people visiting the Maurya Lok Complex to use the smart multi-level car park located at Maurya Lok. The traffic police have issued a clear warning that parking of three and four-wheeled vehicles is prohibited on both routes.

In the event of illegal parking, action will be taken against the drivers. They have also appealed for cooperation from citizens, stating that this step has been taken to reduce the problem of traffic jams in congested areas and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

To provide relief to Patna from traffic jams and encroachment, as well as to make road traffic safer, swift action will now be taken against erratically driven vehicles, illegal parking, unauthorised stopping of buses and auto-rickshaws, and speeding.

For this, 2,602 CCTV surveillance cameras, 473 Red Light Violation Detection (RLVD) cameras, 150 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, 12 Speed Violation Detection (SVD) cameras, and 120 Vehicle Detection and Classification (VDC) cameras, installed at approximately 415 locations by Smart City Limited, have been activated.

Instructions have been given to ensure an automatic process of issuing fines and penalties by identifying those who violate traffic rules through CCTV.

The DM has directed all concerned departments to conduct regular special drives against illegal parking, unauthorised stopping of buses and auto-rickshaws, and speeding.
