As Bihar reels under severe heatwave, as many as 17 people have died in the past 24 hours due to the extreme weather conditions in the state. The maximum temperature of most of the districts including Patna has been recorded between 40-45 degree Celsius over the past several days. According to the Bihar Meteorological Service Center, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 45.3 degrees Celsius on Saturday. After June 9 and 15, Patna was the hottest for the third time this season.
During the next 24 hours, a red alert has been issued for extreme heat wave in Gaya, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Bhabua, Aurangabad, Arwal. At the same time, warnings have been issued regarding the effect of severe heat wave in Patna including Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Begusarai, Jehanabad, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Samastipur, Jamui, Banka, Siwan, Saran, Gopalganj, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Munger. Whereas, there is a forecast of light rain in Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Bhagalpur.

Extreme Heatwave Alert For Three Days
According to the meteorological center, except for the north-west, north-central and north-east parts, southern parts including Patna will be affected by extreme heat and heatwave conditions for the next three days. Simultaneously, the surface wind speed is likely to be 15-20 kmph with gusts reaching 30 kmph during this period. In view of these weather effects, the meteorological department has issued a warning and advised people to stay indoors in the afternoon.
Difference In Temperature Data
On Saturday, extremely severe heatwave was experienced in 18 districts of the state including Patna and heatwave continued in four districts. Sheikhpura was the hottest in the state with 45.1 degree Celsius. There was some difference in the figures of different agencies of the government releasing the temperature on Saturday. According to the data of Bihar Meteorological Service Center, the temperature in Sheikhpura was 44.8 degrees while the maximum temperature was recorded at 45.6 degrees in Nalanda.
Monsoon Stalled In Maldah-Forbesganj
On Saturday, an increase in maximum temperature was recorded in 22 cities including Patna. According to the meteorological department, the monsoon is located around Maldah and Forbesganj for the last five days. Meteorologist Ashish Kumar told that after June 19, the monsoon is likely to move further.
At the same time, during this period, scattered rains will occur in some districts of the northern parts and the weather will remain dry in the rest of the parts. The flow of easterly wind coming from Bengal and partial Biparjay storm have also had an impact in advancing the monsoon. Due to this the monsoon has become stable. However, there are signs of a change in the weather after two days of change in the pace of the monsoon.
17 People Died Due To Heat In 24 hours
On Saturday, 17 people including SAP jawan died due to heat stroke. Three people died in Arwal and two each in Patna, Nawada, Rohtas and Aurangabad due to heatwave. One person each died in Bhojpur, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka, Purnia and Samastipur. SAP jawan Upendra Kumar Singh, working in Gajrajganj OP in Bhojpur district, died due to sudden health deterioration. He was a resident of Guraru in Gaya district.
