Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited via video conferencing, aimed at supporting rural women entrepreneurs in the poll-bound state. During the event, PM Modi also transferred Rs 105 crore into the institution’s bank account. He said that women’s empowerment is essential for the country’s development. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, and others were present on the occasion.

"I congratulate the mothers and sisters of Bihar, CM Nitish Kumar and the NDA government for this wonderful initiative. A major basis of India's development is the empowerment of its women, and to empower women, it is essential that all kinds of difficulties are removed from their lives. That is why we are doing many things to make the lives of mothers, sisters and daughters easier," PM Modi said.

What Is Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited
1. The primary objective is to provide community members associated with Jeevika easy access to funds at affordable interest rates.
2. All registered cluster-level federations under Jeevika will become members of the cooperative society.
3. Both the Government of Bihar and the Central Government will contribute financially towards the operation of the institution.
How Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Saakh Sahkari Sangh Limited Will Benefit Women
1. Women entrepreneurs have often relied on microfinance institutions charging high interest rates of 18-24 per cent.
2. Jeevika Nidhi will serve as an alternative financial system, reducing dependence on MFIs.
3. It will ensure timely availability of larger loan amounts at lower interest rates.
4. The system will operate entirely on a digital platform for faster, transparent fund transfers directly into bank accounts.
5. 12,000 community cadres are being equipped with tablets to facilitate smooth implementation.
6. The initiative will strengthen entrepreneurship among rural women and boost community-led enterprises.
Around 20 lakh women from Bihar are expected to benefit from this program.
