Bihar News: In a tragic incident, the granddaughter of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Sushma Devi, was shot dead in broad daylight on Wednesday morning. The incident took place around 9 AM at Tetua Tad in the Atari police station area. She fell to the ground immediately after being shot, prompting her younger sister to scream for help.
The shooter, her husband, fled the scene. Sushma (32), who was working as a Vikas Mitra in the Atari Block was rushed to the Community Health Centre in Atari but was declared dead by the doctors.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Atari police promptly arrived at the Community Health Centre to investigate the case. The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused.
The body has been sent to Magadh Medical College in Gaya for a postmortem, and the weapon used in the murder has been seized.

According to the police, on Wednesday, Ramesh came home, pulled Sushma to the room, and locked it. He then fired a round into her chest, leading to her instantaneous death.
"A woman has been shot dead by her husband in Tetua village of Atari Police Station. Further action is being taken with the help of FSL and the technical cell. The accused husband will be arrested soon," Gaya SSP Anand Kumar said.
"Ramesh came from outside, and suddenly went inside the house and locked my sister in the room and shot her. He fled soon after. He should be given stringent punishment," Poonam Kumari, sister of the deceased, said as quoted by ETV Bharat.
It has been discovered that the fatal tragedy was caused by Ramesh's anger and doubts about Sushma. The authorities have not yet provided an explanation for the incident's reason. They had an intercaste marriage.
Krit Manjhi, the cousin of Manjhi's nephew Satyendra Kumar Panna, is the father of Sushma.
