A meeting of the Sonpur Division Parliamentary Committee was held on Wednesday to discuss the enhancement of railway facilities and passenger services. The session was chaired by MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy. Various issues concerning the railways were discussed, along with potential solutions.

MP Ramnath Thakur raised the matter of improving railway facilities for Samastipur district. He proposed the introduction of a Vande Bharat Express running from Barauni to New Delhi, passing through Samastipur and Pataliputra. Additionally, he suggested submitting a proposal to the Railway Board for the inclusion of Khudiram Bose, Pusa, and Karpurigram railway stations under the Sonpur Division, transferring them from the Samastipur railway division.

Furthermore, proposals were made to operate the Patna-Ahmedabad Express (12947/48) bi-weekly from Barauni via Samastipur, and the Muzaffarpur-Anand Vihar Garib Rath (12211/12) daily from Samastipur. There was also a strong push for halting the Maurya Express (15027/28), Tata-Thawe Express (18181/82), Muzaffarpur-Bhagalpur Intercity Express (13419/20), and Jaynagar Intercity Express (13225/26) at Karpurigram Railway Station.

Shiv Kumar, a representative of Union Minister Nityanand Rai, raised several crucial issues during the meeting. MP Shambhavi highlighted various significant demands for enhancing railway facilities and improving passenger services. She also proposed the construction of a Rail Over Bridge (ROB) at gate number 66 on the Samastipur-Muzaffarpur railway section and suggested the development of Karpurigram railway station as a terminal, with an emphasis on its beautification.
