Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey announced that World Blood Donor Day will be observed across the state on June 14, with a month-long series of events and awareness programs to follow till July 13. The campaign aims to promote voluntary blood donation and highlight its critical role in saving lives.
Minister Pandey said that medical college hospitals, district hospitals, primary health centers, model block banks, and all government-run blood centers across the state will actively participate in the campaign. As part of the initiative, regular blood donors will also be felicitated for their continued service.

The theme for this year’s World Blood Donor Day is “Donate blood, give hope – save lives together”, which underlines the message that blood donation is not just a life-saving act but also a reflection of compassion and social responsibility.
“Thousands of people in Bihar require blood every day—not just in hospitals but also for victims of road accidents, pregnant women, and patients battling diseases like thalassemia and cancer,” said Pandey. He added that voluntary and regular blood donation by citizens can make a significant difference in meeting this growing demand.
Calling for a cultural shift, the minister urged people to mark special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries by donating blood. “This must not remain a one-day campaign. We need to build a lasting culture of regular blood donation in the state,” he emphasised.
