The excitement regarding the Peeth Puja (base worship) for the installation of the world's largest Sahasra Lingam on Saturday at the Virat Ramayan Mandir, currently under construction in Janaki Nagar, Kaithwalia of Kalyanpur block in East Champaran district, is at its peak. A large crowd of Shiva devotees has started walking on the Ram Janaki Path to witness the event.
Strict security arrangements have been put in place within the temple premises, and a devotional atmosphere prevails around the site. People are chanting Shiva mantras, while women are singing auspicious songs dedicated to Mahadev. In a few hours, scholars arriving from various regions, including Mahadev's city Kashi (Varanasi), will begin the rituals for the Peeth Puja. Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary and her husband Sayan Kunal are seated as the Yajman (ritual hosts). Sayan Kunal also serves as the Secretary of the Mahavir Mandir Trust, Patna.
Construction History And Details
It is worth noting that the Shilapujan (foundation stone laying) for the construction of the Virat Ramayan Mandir was conducted on June 20, 2023, under the leadership of Acharya Kishore Kunal, the then Chairman of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trusts. Since then, 250 laborers have worked daily for one and a half years to erect a total of 3,102 pillars from a depth of 100 feet underground.
