In recent years, a significant shift has occurred in how we perceive our pets' nutrition, particularly in canine diets. Traditional kibble once hailed as a convenient and complete meal solution for our pets, is now under scrutiny for its shortcomings and potential health risks. It has become increasingly evident that our choices directly impact the well-being and longevity of our beloved pets.

Kibble, a staple in many households for decades, is facing mounting criticism for its highly processed nature and questionable ingredients. With preservatives, fillers, and often high levels of starch and sugar, conventional kibble bears little resemblance to the wholesome diet our dogs and cats evolved to thrive on.

Disadvantages Of Kibble

The consequences of feeding kibble extend beyond mere nutrition. Studies suggest a disturbing trend in the declining lifespan of dogs, with the average age dropping from 17 years in 1970 to just 11 years in 2016, as per the study done by animal friends.uk and petobesityprevention.org. The same study also highlights that there has been a 900% increase in diabetics and a 60% increase in Obesity, and now 1 in 2 dogs face a glaring chance of getting cancer.

Healthy Foods For Pets

By prioritising the holistic health of our pets, many companies craft fresh, nutrient-rich recipes that prioritise whole ingredients and optimal gut health. Innovative packaging solutions ensure freshness and longevity without the need for harmful preservatives or fillers. With growing pet adoption in India, companies that cater to pet health have also started to enter the market. In the last 18 months alone, brands like Sara's (a Heads Up for Tails brand) and BLEP have entered the market and gained traction. This scrutiny extends to the pet food industry, where companies like BLEP exemplify the commitment to human-grade ingredients and nutritional integrity.

As caring pet parents, we are responsible for prioritising our pets' health and well-being. By choosing fresh food over conventional kibble, we can provide our pets with the nutrition they deserve. Let's take the initiative to rethink dog nutrition and journey towards better health and long life for our beloved canine companions.
