The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended free Aadhaar update of documents by three months from September 14, 2023 to December 14, 2023.

“Based on the positive response from the residents, it is decided to extend the facility for 3 more months i.e. from 15.09.2023 to 14.12.2023. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue free of cost through myAadhaar portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ up to 14.12.2023.” UIDAI said in a statement.

UIDAI is also urging Aadhaar holders to update the details with the latest information. “Please update Aadhaar for continued accuracy of demographic Information. To update it, upload your proof of identity and proof of address documents,” UIDAI said on its website.

Free update should be done online at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and for physical update at CSC will be charged Rs 25 as usual.

When To Update Demographic Details?

“Changes in life events such as marriage may lead to residents changing their basic demographic details such as name and address. Address and mobile number could also change due to migration to newer locations. Residents may also want changes in their relative’s details due to changes in life events such as marriage, death of a relative etc.,” UIDAI said on its website.

How to upload address proof for free?

  1. Begin by visiting the official website athttps://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/.

  2. Log in to your account and choose the option 'Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update'.

  3. Next, click on the 'Update Aadhaar Online' button.

  4. In the list of demographic options, select 'address', and then click 'Proceed to Update Aadhaar'.

  5. Upload a scanned copy of the necessary document and provide the required demographic information.

  6. If applicable, make a payment of Rs 25. Please note that this payment is not required until December 14.

  7. After completing the process, a Service Request Number (SRN) will be generated. Be sure to save this number for tracking the status of your request at a later time.
