The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has reminded citizens that tomorrow, June 14, is the last day to update their Aadhaar online for free if they haven't done so in the previous ten years. Whether the update is completed online or in person at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, a fee of Rs 50 will be charged after this date.

Uploading current proof of address and identity via the myAadhaar portal is part of the update. Those who enrolled before 2015 and haven't updated their information since are especially encouraged by UIDAI to take advantage of the free update window before it ends at midnight tomorrow.

The Reasons for Updating

Applications for passports, mobile SIM verification, bank account opening, and government subsidies all make extensive use of Aadhaar. Maintaining your data up to date guarantees easy service access and authentication.

How to Update Your Aadhaar Online for Free (Prior to June 14)

- Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in

- Enter your Aadhaar number and the OTP that was sent to your registered mobile device to log in.

- Check the accuracy of your information.

- Attach the most recent proof of identity (JPG, PNG, or PDF, up to 2 MB).

- Upload the most recent proof of address (with the same size and format limit).

- Download the acknowledgement receipt after submitting your request.

Note: This procedure will not change after June 14, but each update will incur a fee of Rs 50.

Every 10 years, update your biometrics

To prevent authentication failures, UIDAI also advises updating your biometrics—photo, iris scan, and fingerprint—every ten years. This update is essential to guaranteeing seamless access to banking, welfare programs, and telecom services, even though it is not included in the current free offer.
